Not only are racist attitudes widely exhibited by average Israelis, but even Knesset members and other government officials have openly made racist comments and gotten away with them. For instance, last year Knesset member Ayelet Shaked referred to Palestinian children as “little snakes,” while earlier this year Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman called for the beheading of Palestinians who aren’t loyal to Israel.
